Classes in educational facilities in the area bordering on the Republic of Belarus may be suspended by directors – the regulation has been signed

Due to the continuing threat to the security of citizens and public order, related to the current situation at the border between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Belarus, it was proposed that directors of educational units in borderland poviats may suspend all or specific classes in such units with the approval of the competent supervising body or body exercising educational supervision.
Directors may suspend classes for a group of students, education group, section, class educational stage or the entire educational unit and introduce distance learning in accordance with the regulations issued based on Art. 30c of the Act of 14th December 2016 – Educational Law.
If suspended classes cannot be conducted using distance learning methods and techniques, directors of educational units will determine another way of conducting classes and performing other tasks of such units.
The possibility of temporarily limiting the functioning of educational units due to the current situation at the border between the Republic of Poland and the Republic of Belarus concerns the poviat of Augustów, Biała Podlaska, Białystok, Hajnówka, Łosice, Sejny, Siemiatycze, Sokółka, and Włodawa.
The relevant regulation was signed by the Minister of Education and Science yesterday, on 9th November 2021. The provisions will enter into force on the day of their publication in Dziennik Ustaw [Journal of Laws].
