Detained for crossing the border illegally

08.11.2021

Officers from the Border Guard Station in Wojtkowa detained two Azerbaijani citizens for crossing the Polish-Ukrainian border on foot. Before that, the foreigners had unsuccessfully tried to enter Poland through the railway border crossing. As established, they were declared to be undesirable persons in the EU Member States.

On Sunday, 7th November 2021, on the section of the state border which is under the responsibility of the Border Guard Station in Wojtkowa, officers patrolling the region of Kwaszenina (Bieszczady poviat) found tracks of people who had crossed the border illegally. After several minutes, they found and detained two men who entered Poland illegally.

Two men, aged 35 and 36 years old, had Azerbaijani identity documents. Just several days before, they had attempted to enter Poland by international train from Ukraine. They were refused entry to the country due to the fact that they had been deported from Germany in the past and entered on the list of undesirable persons in the EU Member States.

During the interrogation, the foreigners testified that they were planning to reach Germany. Arrangements are being made to transfer the immigrants back to Ukraine under the readmission agreement.
