Meeting of Deputy Minister Bartosz Grodecki with Monique Pariat, Director-General of DG HOME

Today (22 October), Deputy Minister Bartosz Grodecki met with Monique Pariat, Director General of the European Commission's Directorate General for Migration and Home Affairs. The meeting concerned the situation on the Poland-Belarus section of the external border of the European Union.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Bartosz Grodecki presented current information on the migration situation at the Poland-Belarus border. The scope of activities implemented by the Polish side aiming to protect the external border of the European Union was discussed as well. They are intended to prevent attempts to destabilise the situation on the border with Belarus. Given the difficult situation, participants in the meeting agreed that the external border must be tight and properly protected.
Therefore, the Polish Government has undertaken multidimensional operations, including operational activities of the Polish services at the border, legislative actions, and diplomatic steps at the EU level.
Moreover, the potential possibilities of preventing illegal migration through actions carried out in third countries located on the most significant migration routes were addressed at the meeting.
The meeting also discussed potential opportunities to prevent irregular migration through joint actions implemented in third countries along key migration routes and increase return opportunities.
