The session of the Sejm was convened upon the yesterday's (8 November) events near the town of Kuźnica, on the Poland-Belarus border.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke first.

It must be stressed that the security of our eastern border is being brutally violated. It is an exceptional situation, the first time in 30 years that the security of our borders has been tested in this way

said the Head of the Government.

We are convinced that the operations on Poland's eastern border are part of a larger and coordinated operation that has the character of a new type of war, where people are used as human shields

he stressed.

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki also called for unity in the face of such a severe threat.

We have to be united, we have to look in solidarity at what is happening, and have Poland's fate in mind. The risk is enormous

he said.

Minister Mariusz Kamiński said that yesterday (8 November), there was a mass attempt to cross the border near Kuźnica. Around 1,500 migrants tried to break through the state border forcibly. Approximately 2,000 to 4,000 illegal migrants in the immediate border strip will seek to make another assault on our border in the coming hours or days.

We have sufficient forces and resources to effectively counter these illegal and aggressive attempts to cross our border

assured the Head of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.

We have known since June this year that a political decision had been made to strike at our country and to strike at our friends from the Baltic States using the illegal migration element

Minister Mariusz Kamiński told the Sejm Members.

The decision in this matter is implemented by the Belarusian regime, but in fact, the main decision-maker is in Moscow in the Kremlin; it is Vladimir Putin. For a long time, we have been observing meetings at the political level, and at the level of special services of both these countries

he stressed.

The Head of the Ministry of the Interior reminded the Members that the Belarusian regime provides logistical opportunities for migrants in the form of aeroplane flights, and all of them have visas and stay in Belarus legally.

If we are not consistent, if we lose our cool, if we do not act firmly, we will be flooded by a wave of illegal migration with all the political and social consequences

he warned.

During his speech in the Sejm, Minister Mariusz Kamiński thanked the Border Guard officers, Police officers and Polish Armed Forces soldiers for their service on the border.
