On Monday, 8 November, Minister Zbigniew Rau had a phone conversation with his Lithuanian counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis.

The ministers discussed the situation at the Polish-Belarusian border.

Minister Landsbergis mentioned the talks he had held with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell on summoning an extraordinary Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting.

The top diplomats also referred to the conversation between the two countries’ presidents and agreed that the developments at the Polish-Belarusian border are a matter of common concern for the entire EU and as such call for solidarity not only on Poland’s and Lithuania’s part but also within the Union as a whole.
