Celebration of the All Saints' Day in Strasbourg

01.11.2022

On November 1, at the Cronenburg military cemetery, Ambassador Jerzy Baurski took part in the National Day of the Graves of the "Dead for France" celebration organized by the mayor of Strasburg, Ms. Jeanne Barseghian, and the association Le Souvenir français in the Department of the Lower Rhine, represented by Mr. Maurice Bartholome.

The graves of Poles.

The Representative of the Republic of Poland together with a delegation of Polish soldiers from the Eurocorps laid a wreath on the graves of those who died for France, and then on the graves of Polish soldiers and prisoners of war from World War I and II.

The visit to the cemetery was an occasion to remember the fallen and pray with the participation of priest Ryszard Górski from the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes - the seat of the Polish Catholic Mission in Strasbourg and a representation of the Polish community in Alsace.

The All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day is a period of reflection that has a special meaning in the collective consciousness of Poles, including those outside the Polish state.

Several dozen of our compatriots, whom the Polish authorities remember, are buried in the Strasbourg necropolis.
