05.10.2022
On October 5, 2022 at the Palace of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg (Palais de l'Europe), the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland, Ambassador Jerzy Baurski, opened together with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić and the Chairman of the Committee of Delegates of Ministers, Amb. Breifne O'Reilly an exhibition by the Polish artist - Ewa Rossano.
In the introductory speech, the Ambassador emphasized that the main motive of the presented works is the human being and the values associated with it, such as freedom, dignity, tolerance and diversity. The values constituting the principles of the Council of Europe are included in the form of allegories in the artist's sculptures and paintings.
The Secretary General emphasized that the works of E. Rossano are characterized by peace and bring unity between people and nature. And the chairman of the Committee of Ministers' Delegates, Amb. B. O'Reilly spoke about harmony in art that soothes these troubled times.
The author of the exhibition, referring to its title, described her works as stories woven from meetings with people and visits to various places. They are also an emanation of complex human nature, its fragility represented in crystal and strength expressed in bronze parts. The mixture of these two materials is like a metaphor for our being - present moment and eternity.
Ewa Rossano is an artist recognized not only in the Council of Europe, but also in the European Parliament, UNESCO and OECD. It is noteworthy that she is the author of numerous statuettes, including the Audentia award, an award designed by Eurimages as part of its gender equality strategy. Her exhibitions traveled across Europe from her native Poland through Israel, Italy, France and the USA, reaching the northernmost ends of the continent, such as Iceland, and conquering the hearts and souls of art lovers in all these places.
The "Stories and Tales" exhibition, consisting of 18 sculptures and 6 paintings, was presented at the Palace of the Council of Europe. Its next stop is the seat of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
