Poland signed the Council of Europe Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society

On May 10, 2021, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Jerzy Baurski signed, on behalf of Poland, the Council of Europe Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (CETS No. 199). The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Mr. Bjørn Berge.
Poland has thus become the twenty-eight signatory to the Convention which has been ratified by twenty-one member states of the Council of Europe.
The Council of Europe Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society, also known as the Faro Convention, entered into force on June 1, 2011.
The Faro Convention emphasizes the important aspects of cultural heritage in the context of human rights and democracy, thus promoting a wider understanding of heritage and its relationship to communities and society. The Convention recognizes the importance of the cultural heritage stemming from its meanings and uses for people, and the values it represents.
