Another round of diplomatic and consular training officially begins

Twelve new diplomatic and consular trainees who had completed a multi-stage selection procedure were welcomed during the ceremony. This June, 144 candidates joined the first stage of the procedure.

Undersecretary of State Henryka Mościcka-Dendys highlighted the importance and nature of diplomatic service, as well as the related challenges. She underlined that for those who consciously embark on this demanding mission, it can be a source of fulfilment and satisfaction.

Head of the Foreign Service Rafał Wiśniewski congratulated the trainees on their successful completion of the competition and display of aptitude to work in the foreign service. He also noted that it is merely the beginning of their professional path and called for the best possible use of the trainings and internships during the next 12 months of the training.

The yearlong curriculum will include theoretical classes at the Diplomatic Academy, introducing the trainees to the intricacies of the work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to the diplomatic toolkit. The trainees will broaden their knowledge of international relations in regard to security, economy, law, and the priorities of the Polish foreign policy. The classes will be taught by professional diplomats, members of the ministerial staff, and university lecturers. The trainees will also serve internships at the Ministry’s organisational units and at Polish diplomatic missions abroad to become acquainted with the practicalities of their future work.

Once the trainees complete the curriculum and pass the diplomatic and consular exam, they will be awarded the lowest diplomatic rank and enter the corps of professional diplomats.
