Radosław Sikorski and Andrii Sybiha, the foreign ministers of Poland and Ukraine, met in Warsaw on 26 November.
The talks focused on developing Polish–Ukrainian relations, Ukraine’s EU accession process, and Poland’s support for embattled Ukraine.
The ministers also discussed the importance of Poland’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, with support for Ukraine being one of its priorities. Minister Radosław Sikorski emphasised our country’s willingness to share the experience of the accession process with Ukraine.
The ministers stressed the potential and significance of Polish assistance to Ukraine in the military, humanitarian, energy, and political dimensions. They underscored that any talks on ending the conflict must take place with Ukraine’s consent, in accordance with the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine”.
Minister Radosław Sikorski noted that Poland should take part in such talks.
The ministers also discussed bilateral issues, including historical ones. They declared their full willingness to solve problems concerning search and exhumation work on Ukrainian territory.
The two sides expressed satisfaction with the intensive bilateral contacts between Poland and Ukraine this year and hope for their continuation, including through meetings at the highest level.
