Result of competition for PISM director

Having followed the procedure provided for by law, the Competition Board, which selects a candidate for the post of Director of the Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM), has decided to recommend Jarosław Ćwiek-Karpowicz as a candidate for the post.
Jarosław Ćwiek-Karpowicz, PhD (dr hab.), graduated in political science and sociology at the University of Warsaw. A fellow of the Foundation for Polish Science. In 2010, he received a PhD degree in the humanities at the Faculty of Journalism and Political Science. In 2019, having collected substantial scientific record and defended his thesis “Energy security of Russia,” he obtained a social science PhD (dr hab.) in the field of security sciences, at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at the University of Warsaw.
Staff member of the Institute of Political Science and PISM. Economic counsellor at the Polish embassies in Riga and Tel Aviv. Head of the Political and Economic Unit at the Permanent Representation of Poland to the OECD in Paris. Jarosław Ćwiek-Karpowicz is the author of publications on international relations, energy, climate, and public opinion.
He speaks fluent English, French, Russian, and basic Hebrew.
