CPK transferred PLN 5 million to Grodzisk Bus Services for the purchase of buses

16.03.2023

The CPK company and Grodziskie Przewozy Autobusowe (Grodzisk Bus Services) district and municipalities association have signed an agreement to subsidise the purchase of low-floor buses for public transport services in the Grodzisk and Pruszków districts, including the municipalities of Baranów, Błonie, Jaktorów, Grodzisk Mazowiecki, Milanówek and Żabia Wola.

CPK transferred PLN 5 million to Grodzisk Bus Services for the purchase of buses

In 2022, the district and municipalities association, Grodziskie Przewozy Autobusowe (GPA), which provides services over an area of 12 municipalities, raised PLN 5 million from the Polish Order Fund. A further PLN 5 million in funding was provided by the Central Communication Port company. With these funds and own contribution of more than PLN 1 million, GPA plans to purchase 10 low-floor, 10-metre buses. The vehicles will be brand new, air-conditioned, monitored and equipped with a dynamic passenger information system. Each bus will accommodate more than 70 passengers and will be adapted for the transport of wheelchairs and bicycles.

One of the aims of the CPK investment is to eliminate transport exclusion. Transport infrastructure is an interconnected system, so simultaneously to designing and building new railway lines, we also support bus transport which helps passengers to reach regional interchanges. Our support for Grodzisk Bus Services is actually a helping hand extended to the residents, to whom we will provide a better transport offer,

said the Deputy Minister for Development Funds and Regional Policy and government plenipotentiary for CPK, Marcin Horała.

It is expected that the new buses will start carrying passengers at the beginning of 2024, once the procurement procedure has been completed.

I am glad that low-floor buses will operate on roads in the area of the planned airport, which will make the daily commuting to school or work more comfortable for residents and that we can contribute to that. The CPK Company has been consistently supporting the needs of the local community in the vicinity of CPK Airport. We have been implementing them in response to transport-related problems reported to us by local authorities,

stressed Katarzyna Dobrońska, director of CPK Relations and Environment Development Division.

The money will be provided as part of the Social and Economic Programme (PSG) included in the CPK Concept adopted by the Council of Ministers in November 2017. The PSG assumes the financing of CPK complementary projects, i.e., among others, investment in transport that integrates suburban areas and increases the transport accessibility of tourist-attractive regions.

The efforts of the GPA management board are largely focused on promoting public mass transport,

added the governor of the Grodzisk district and GPA CEO, Marek Wieżbicki.

With an attractive transport offer and increasing rolling stock standards, we want to encourage residents to leave their cars behind and choose buses as their main mode of transport. We are convinced that passenger numbers will increase with the introduction of new and modern rolling stock.  In January this year, we recorded an increase of more than 100 per cent in passenger numbers compared to the beginning of last year. One of the tasks of our bus network is to transport residents to railway stations and stops, for the time being, WKD and Mazowieckie Railway, but I do hope that in a few years these will also include CPK lines within the region of Mazowsze,

emphasised the governor of the Grodzisk district.

The dynamically growing number of inhabitants (in the Grodzisk district alone, the number of new housing estates increases by almost 2 thousand every year) and the construction of the CPK mean there is a need for investment in public transport. The aim of these measures is to increase the mobility of inhabitants of the municipalities in the vicinity of the planned investment and, in the near future, to ensure that construction and airport staff can commute from nearby towns.

As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), CPK has so far co-financed purchases and projects that are important to the municipalities and residents in the area of the investment, such as the purchase of five fire-fighting and rescue vehicles for the OSP(Volunteer Fire Brigades) of the municipalities of Baranów and Teresin, new equipment for rescue operations for the WOPR (Water Volunteer Rescue Service) in Grodzisk Mazowiecki and the construction of a helipad for the Western Hospital in Grodzisk Mazowiecki, which is already under construction.

For the airport, including the railway junction, roads and associated infrastructure, the procedure for obtaining an environmental decision at the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection (RDOŚ) in Warsaw is well advanced. A Voluntary Acquisition Programme (PDN) is successfully continued in the development area, with over 900 owners of real estate occupying the area of more than 2600 ha registered. In just a few months, preparatory construction work will begin at the airport site.
