Polish baroque music inaugurates in Ljubljana the Polish presidency of the Visegrad Group

The Wrocław Baroque Ensemble concert under the patronage of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Slovenia inaugurated in Ljubljana the Polish presidency of the V4 Group.
The concert of Polish Baroque music performed by Wrocław Baroque Ensamble under the baton of Andrzej Kosendiak, took place in the church of St. Jakub in Ljubljana on July 14, 2020, as part of the Ljubljana Festival. The program of the concert included, among others, pieces such as: "Magnificat" by Jacek Różycki, "Veni Domine" by Marcin Mielczewski, "Sonata" by Stanisław Sylwester Szarzyński or "Completorium" by Grzegorz Gerwazy Gorczycki.
"Baroque is permanently inscribed in the DNA of Central Europe, and its cultural and political legacy still determines our everyday life" - said in his speech Krzysztof Olendzki, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Slovenia.
The concert was attended by representatives of the highest state authorities of Slovenia, including Chairman of the National Council, the upper house of the Parliament of Slovenia, Mr. Alojz Kovšca, Bojan Pograjec, Secretary of State for Security and Foreign Policy at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of the Government of Slovenia, diplomatic corps, residents of Ljubljana, tourists and festival guests.
On the day of the concert, an article was published in Delo describing fascinating stories of treasures of Polish Baroque music being stolen during World War II.
Referring to the beginning of the Polish presidency of the Visegrad Group, Ambassador Olendzki added that today we must above all return to normality and find
the right answer to an unprecedented global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Visegrad Group is looking for new solutions for the entire European Union. Strong V4 builds a strong Europe - added at the end Ambassador Olendzki.
