Ambassador Michał Kołodziejski presented credentials to the President of the Republic of Nauru Lionel Aingimea
16.09.2021
Ambassador Michał Kołodziejski became the first Polish ambassador officially accredited in Nauru. The presentation of diplomatic credentials took place on 16 September 2021. Due to travel restrictions between Australia and the Pacific country caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the ceremony took place virtually.
Ambassador Kołodziejski and President Aingimea discussed prospects for development of bilateral relations, in particular regarding the cooperation between the two countries at the UN, in addressing the negative effects of climate change and the challenges emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nauru is the fifth (except Australia) country, after Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Republic of Fiji, in which Ambassador Michał Kołodziejski presented his credentials. Considered the smallest republic in the world, Nauru has strong people-to-people ties with Poland: the former president Kinza Clodumar's wife, Mirka Clodumar, is of Polish descent.
Poland and Nauru established diplomatic relations in 2014.
