The launch of the exhibition, which took place on 6 October, was organised by the Polish community organisation Kosciuszko Heritage Inc., the Man from Snowy River Museum in Corryong and the Upper Murray Historical Society, with the support of the Polish Embassy in Canberra. Among the participants were local councillors, historians, residents of Corryong and the region, representatives of the Polish community, as well as members of Dhudhuroa People with Elder Uncle Allan Murray, who performed a Welcome to Country ceremony. The program of the event included a performance of classical music by Polish-Australian artist Christopher Malek.

Part of the exhibition related to the Strzelecki’s humanitarian work during the Great Irish Famine of 1845-49 was prepared by the Polish Embassy in Dublin.

Following the decision of the Polish Parliament, 2023 will be celebrated as the Year of Strzelecki.
