Polish-Argentine concert for Ukraine in Canberra
26.08.2022
A recital of music by Fryderyk Chopin and Karol Szymanowski, performed by Argentine pianist Prof. Marcela Fiorillo was held at the Polish Embassy on 26 August 2022.
The main theme of the concert, entitled “Desolation and Poetry”, was solidarity with Ukraine, in the context of Ukraine’s Independence Day celebrated on 24 August, which also marked six months since the beginning of Russian aggression against the country.
The event was organised in cooperation with the Embassy of Argentina in Canberra as part of this year’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Poland and Argentina.
The audience included, inter alia, representatives of the Australian government, the diplomatic corps, the world of culture and science, as well as members and supporters of The Friends of Chopin Australia. The concert was also attended by representatives of the Polish and Argentine communities in the ACT.
