Inauguration of the Polish Presidency of the Visegrad Group at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ottawa

On 17 September 2020 Poland’s yearly chairmanship of the Visegrad Group (V4) was inaugurated at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ottawa in the presence of V4 ambassadors to Canada.
At the outset Ambassador Andrzej Kurnicki presented the genesis of Visegrad cooperation and the priorities of the current Polish presidency with its motto "Back on track". H.E. emphasized Poland’s determination to strengthen the role of the V4 in building a strong Europe, jointly combating the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences, enhancing internal V4 cooperation, as well as promoting the digital agenda. "The priorities of the Polish presidency reflect the challenges faced by our region and Europe today" - indicated Ambassador Andrzej Kurnicki.
Poland’s chairmanship of the Visegrad Group officially began on 1 July 2020 and will continue for the subsequent 12 months. It coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Visegrad cooperation (February 1991) along with the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the International Visegrad Fund (IMF) in June 2000.
