24.11.2022
Due to the ongoing war beyond Poland's eastern border, on November 24, the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe organized a concert of the Polish-Ukrainian band Dagadana and a presentation of the exhibition "Mom, I don't want war!".
The aim of the concert was to show Polish and Ukrainian folklore in a modern version. At the same time, the event carried a message of Poland's solidarity with Ukraine at this difficult moment in its history and commemorated the victims of the conflict that aimed at annihilate the neighboring nation. The concert performed by excellent musicians was complemented by a mowing exhibition entitled "Mom, I don't want war!" This exhibition showed children's testimonies of war in a very poignant way - historical drawings of Polish children from 1946, which are a record of their experiences during World War II and the German occupation in 1939-1945, stored in the Archives of Modern Records in Warsaw, in the Ministry of Education's department from 1945 -1966 and contemporary drawings of Ukrainian children, related to the war currently taking place in Ukraine, collected on the portal "Mom I see war". Images and words combined into thematic groups: fight, occupation, family, repression, resistance, destruction, victory-hope, emphasized the constation of how similar the scenarios of partition wars are, and that the war always looks the same in the eyes of a child.
Ambassadors and their deputies from 46 member states of the Council of Europe were invited to the event.
The main aim of this artistic project was to draw attention to the fact that Russia's aggression against Ukraine, which began on 24th February 2022, has not only a dimension, which comes down to the issue of military alliances or economic issues, but above all it has a human dimension. This human aspect is the essence of the operation of an organization such as the Council of Europe.
