Conference in the Sejm dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Council of Europe

On April 14-16th, in the Column Hall of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, took place the 16th International Scientific Conference on Human Rights entitled "75 years of the Council of Europe's influence on shaping the European legal space in the areas of democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights."
The event was organized by the Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce, the Association of Polish Parliamentarians and the Masovian Voivodeship's Local Government. The scientific patronage of the event was provided by the Polish Society for Constitutional Law, and the honorary patronage by the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, and the Marshal of the Masovian Voivodeship, Adam Struzik.
The inaugural panel featured people who made a significant contribution to Poland's accession and functioning in the Council of Europe, including: prof. Hanna Suchocka, former Prime Minister of Poland, and prof. Jerzy Jaskiernia (UJK, main organizer of the event).
The central idea of the event was to showcase the legacy of the CoE that strengthened the democratic position of many countries, while the exclusion of Russia from CoE demonstrated the Council's consistency in safeguarding democratic values based on the principles of the rule of law.
In addition to distinguished guests from the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland, the event was attended by nearly 200 scientists from Poland and abroad, who presented the results of their observations during thematic sessions devoted to, among others: the role of the Council of Europe in the system of European international organizations, the influence of the Council of Europe on the process of European integration and shaping of the European legal space in the area of protection of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
