Poland in the Council of Europe

It was the first meeting of the Permanent Representative of Poland with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, after taking up the diplomatic mission in Strasbourg. During the conversation, Ambassador J. Baurski emphasized the importance that Poland attaches to the principles and core values ​​underlying the Council of Europe, continually since 1991, when Poland joined the Organization.

The Permanent Representative of Poland expressed hope for the continuation of positive cooperation in the coming years. He emphasized that the Council of Europe offers an important point of reference for states and societies in building and strengthening the system of protection of human rights, the rule of law and democracy, not only in the Member States, but also in the wider European space. He recalled the important voice of the Council of Europe on the current events in Belarus.

Poland appreciates and supports the implementation of the Council of Europe acquis in building a firm and sustainable international legal framework in Europe, as well as the role of the Organization in strengthening multilateralism in the world. Ambassador J. Baurski emphasized that Poland remains actively involved in the implementation of the fundamental values ​​of the Council of Europe.
