On January 27, 2024, the Polonez by the outstanding Polish composer – Wojciech Kilar – was once again performed in the reception hall of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Poland to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
After a ceremonial introduction by Ambassador Jerzy Baurski, who expressed his best wishes to young people on the threshold of adulthood, thanks were given to parents and teaching staff for the effort put into the upbringing process. The participants also accepted wishes from Ryszard Górski - priest of the Polish parish in Strasbourg.
During the main part of the event, a group of high school graduates (bacheliers in French) from the Polish section of the Pontonniers International High School performed a traditional Polish dance, which on December 5, 2023 was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The artistic element of the evening was completed by a show of Polish folk dances, presented in traditional Polish nobility costumes, by a local group of dancers "Wiosna w Szamotułach".
The Permanent Representation of Poland to the Council of Europe wishes this year's high school graduates (BAC in French) from Alsace good luck in the upcoming exams and in choosing professional paths in line with their interests.
