Visit of representatives of the management of the Ministry of Justice in Strasbourg

On June 5-6, 2024, the Minister of Justice, Mr. Adam Bodnar, and the Secretary of State, Mrs. Maria Ejchart, paid an official visit to Strasbourg.

Management representatives held meetings with:
- the President of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), Ms. Claire Bazy Malaurie,
- the Chairman of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, Mr Alan Mitchell,
- President of the European Court of Human Rights, Ms Síofra O'Leary,
- Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Ms Despina Chatzivassiliou-Tsovilis,

as well as the representation of Poles joining the ranks of the Council of Europe.

The visit of the management of the Ministry of Justice was an opportunity to emphasize that maintaining high European standards in the field of human rights, democracy and the rule of law is the subject of our common concern.

The minister announced further consultations with the Venice Commission on the reform of the justice system, among others. regarding the separation of functions the Prosecutor General and the Minister of Justice, as well as the systemic implementation of judgments.
