07.06.2024

Warsaw Ukrainian School SzkoUA received the CEB Social Cohesion Award 2024 from the Council of Europe Development Bank for its excellent work in supporting the integration of refugee children from Ukraine.

Warsaw Ukrainian School (SzkoUA) awarded by the Development Bank of the Council of Europe.

It was empasised that the school creates a favorable environment for students, enabling them to study in their native language together with peers who have similar experiences of displacement, as well as facilitating their integration with the local community by familiarizing them with the Polish language, history and culture. These efforts deserve to be appreciated due to the situation of children experiencing trauma and stress related to escaping from the war.

SzkoUA competed with other projects: (Soliguide) regarding a platform marking useful places and services for people in difficult life situations (FR) and (ComActivate) on improving energy efficiency in residential buildings, primarily helping vulnerable social groups - both were also praised.

The CEB Award for Social Cohesion was set up in 2020 and highlights projects that make a significant contribution to social cohesion. Winners are selected by an international jury of experts based on the criteria of impact, sustainability and innovation.

Congratulations!
