Polish-Danish jazz festival in Copenhagen

20.09.2021

From 16 to 19 September, the festival of Polish-Danish Jazz Days took place in Copenhagen. The festival presented the richness of the Polish-Danish jazz scene and the joint Polish-Danish projects.

In the recent years the cooperation between Danish and Polish jazz musicians, former and current students of Danish music conservatories has flourished – Polish and Danish artists compose, create and play together in numerous Polish-Danish jazz bands.

The festival was divided into three different events. The first event in Filips Kirke was a visual and sound feast during which the artists presented the interaction between light, space and music. On 18 September, the festival moved to the Cinemateket, where the premiere of a documentary about the Polish-Danish jazz community took place, as well as the screening of "Pictures of Old Krakow" with live accompaniment. The evening at the cinema ended with a dance and music performance with improvisation by Molly Nyeland and Dorte Bjerre Jensen.

On the last day of the festival in Mikkeler Baghaven, Polish and Danish musicians presented three concerts in which they alluded to their common musical roots that date back to the 1960s.

The lineup of the festival included recognized jazzmen: Tomasz Dąbrowski, Nana Pi, Sven Dam Meinild, Ola Rubin, Jakob Munck, Fredrik Lundin, Kathrine Windfeld, Mariusz Prasniewski, Radek Wośko, Thomas Agergaard, Tomasz Licak, Artur Tuźnik, Richard Andersson and Daniel Sommer.

Thank you for the white and red jazz evenings in Copenhagen.
