Webinar on strengthening Polish-Danish cooperation in the renewable energy sector

On 12 April, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Copenhagen in partnership with the Confederation of Danish Industry, organized a webinar on cooperation between Poland and Denmark in the energy sector. The rapid green transformation in Poland and the development of the RES market create opportunities for closer political relations, as well as industrial and scientific cooperation.

Cooperation between Poland and Denmark in the energy sector is one of the strongest and most promising areas of bilateral economic cooperation, emphasized chargé d'affaires a.i. Mateusz Mońko, while opening the seminar. Martin Lidegaard, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Minister of Climate of Denmark, currently chairman of the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, also referred to the good atmosphere in bilateral relations, the progress in the area of ​​green transformation and the growing synergy between Poland and Denmark. The process of programing and financing the green transformation was presented by Marta Babicz, Director of the Department for External Funds at the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management. She emphasized that in 2020 alone, the Fund spent over EUR 1.77 billion on green transformation, and more projects are being planned - Poland has the ambition to achieve a 32% share of RES in electricity production by 2030. Kamila Tarnacka, Vice President of the Polish Wind Energy Association delivered interesting presentation about the development of the wind energy sector in Poland (onshore and offshore).

 

More than 60 participants took part in the seminar, including many Danish and Polish entrepreneurs. The discussion between the panelists and among the participants was very lively.  Questions from the audience regarded the future of photovoltaics in Poland, the development of offshore wind or nuclear energy sectors. The interest in the online seminar showed the value of such events  and therefore Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Copenhagen plans to organize further, similar debates in the near future.
