President of the Republic of Poland Mr. Andrzej Duda at the 27th UN Climate Change Conference COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh in the Arab Republic of Egypt

On November 6-8, the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Andrzej Duda, took part in the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
The delegation accompanying the President included the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations Krzysztof Szczerski, the head of the Presidential Bureau of International Policy Jakub Kumoch, the Secretary of State in the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland Minister Wojciech Kolarski, the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Climate and Environment Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński and the Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland for environmental protection, climate policy and sustainable development Paweł Sałek.
On the first day of the conference, President Andrzej Duda took part in the opening ceremony of the high-level meeting of heads of state and government. On the same day, together with other heads of state, he participated in the "Just transition" round table discussion.
On the sidelines of the summit, the President of the Republic of Poland spoke among others with the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala and the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II.
At the meeting with representatives of the Polish media, the President spoke about the impact of Russian aggression on Ukraine on the climate, energy security and a just transition.
On the second day, Polish the leader delivered a national speech at the plenary session of COP27 and took part in the "Water Security" round table discussion and the high-level discussion "Promoting Climate Change Education".
During his visit to Egypt, the President also held bilateral meetings with other leaders – President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Latvia Egils Levits, President of Romania Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Jean-Michel Sam Lukonde as well as business leaders – with the President of Equinor ASA (formerly Statoil) Anders Opedal and the President of Microsoft Corporation Brad Smith.
Poland has achieved the adopted goals of reducing gas emissions by 2020, is actively developing a system of renewable energy sources and a program of low-emission civil nuclear energy. It promotes electromobility and energy efficiency, develops new technologies. It is active in order to meet the goals set for all of us – emphasized Andrzej Duda at the conference in Sharm el Sheikh.
The conference will last until November 18, 2022.
