85th jubilee of professor Raimo Pullat

Ceremony of bestowing professor Raimo Pullat Bene Merito honorary distinction took place on 19 November at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland. The event was organised on the occasion of professor's 85th jubilee.

The celebration was attended by guests representing scientific communities and involved in developing Polish-Estonian relations. On behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, Ambassador Grzegorz Kozłowski honoured prof. Raimo Pulat - as the first citizen of  the Republic of Estonia - with Bene Merito honorary distinction.


Professor Raimo Pullat is an outstanding specialist in the history of the countries of the Baltic Sea region. He has published several dozen books and several hundred scientific articles in the field of political, social and cultural history. A special place in his research interests is occupied by Poland and Polish-Estonian relations. Foreign member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, honorary doctor of the Catholic University of Lublin. He is a leading figure in the process of strengthening the foundations of Polish-Estonian relations.
