Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tallinn
The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tallinn is located near the market square of the Tallinn Old Town, in a tenement house erected originally for a bank in 1903-1904. The architects Otto Schott and Wilhelm Neumann, while designing the building in the historic area, tried to refer to the nearby Gothic and Baroque buildings. They have preserved from the earlier tenement houses standing on the same site, e.g. a gothic portal (on the side of Suur-Karja street), carved baroque doors (now reconstructed), and weather vanes. The aforementioned door shows the coats of arms of the building's owner, Mayor Thomas von Drenteln and his wife, as well as the apostles and a warrior. Earlier, the Embassy was located in a tenement house at Parnu Avenue 8 and before the WWII, at 8 Kohtu Street.
