Inauguration of the Polish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce

On 19th October, in the presence of the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda, the ceremonial inauguration of the Polish-Estonian Chamber of Commerce, reactivated by interested companies and partners from Poland and Estonia, took place. The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Tallinn and the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Warsaw became Honorary Founding Members.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Estonia, Grzegorz Kozłowski, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Estonia, Urmas Reinsalu, spoke on behalf of the honorary founders. The event was attended by, among others, the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Poland Martin Roger, Deputy Minister for Economic Development at the Ministry of Economy and Communication of Estonia Viljar Lubi, Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland, Secretary of State Krzysztof Szczerski and Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Paweł Jabłoński.

Earlier, on the same day, the first General Meeting of the Chamber was held, in which the following companies took part as Founding Members of the Chamber: Belstroj Baltic OÜ, Bristol Trust, Consells Chemicals, Budmat Bogdan Więcek, Control Process, Eco Logistics Hub OÜ, EMLT trading, FinestMedia, Geco One, Grupa Azoty PKCH, Hanna International, Legend H&S, Met-Instal Services, Orlen Eesti OÜ, Polish Armaments Group, Puma Aviation Europe OÜ, PZU, Regional Jet, Thompson & Stein OÜ and the Polish Embassy in Tallinn and the Estonian Embassy in Warsaw, as Honorary Founding Members.

In total, 21 entities took part in the founding of the PEIG, representing 10 economic sectors: energy, transport, infrastructure, digitalisation, armaments, aviation, finance, construction, logistics and law.

The First Estonian-Polish Chamber of Commerce operated between 1934 and 1939, and its activity was ended by the occupation of Poland and Estonia. On 5 December 2019, as part of the Polish-Estonian business conference in Tallinn with the participation of both embassies, the reactivation of the Chamber was solemnly initiated. Many Estonian companies operating in Poland and interested in the Polish market and Polish companies operating in Estonia signed a letter of intent, committing themselves to work together to rebuild the Chamber.

Among the objectives of the Chamber were the promotion of Polish-Estonian economic relations and assistance in establishing partnerships between Poland and Estonia.
