Polish Musical Autumn Festival in Estonia

22.10.2024

The Polish Musical Autumn chamber music festival concluded with a concert by the Zarębski Duo at the Kadriorg Palace on October 20.

Polska Jesień Muzyczna

The Polish Musical Autumn is a series of five concerts, during which masterpieces by Polish composers were presented in Estonia, including those written by masters from the 20th century – Witold Lutosławski and Krzysztof Penderecki. There were also other interesting names – Mieczysław Weinberg, Szymon Laks and Juliusz Zarębski (on the 170th anniversary of his birth) being few among them.

During the concerts in Tallinn, Narva and Tartu, renowned Polish instrumentalists and academic teachers performed in duets and quintets – violinists Jakub Jakowicz and Maria Machowska, violist Katarzyna Budnik, cellist Bartosz Koziak and pianists Agnieszka Kozło, Piotr Różański and Grzegorz Mania, who also represented the Association of Polish Chamber Musicians.

The project was a continuation of the cooperation established by the Polish side with Estonian partners (including the Estonian Association of Chamber Musicians) during the celebration of the anniversary of the "Warsaw Autumn" festival in 2017.

In November 2022, in cooperation with the Polish Embassy in Tallinn and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA), the Association of Polish Chamber Musicians organized a series of concerts, lectures and classes in Tartu and Tallinn.

This year, Polish chamber music could be listened to at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (13.10.2024; as an intermedium of the piano conference and the "Piano" festival), at the Estonian Museum of Art - Kadriorg Palace (20.10.2024; as part of the Lossimuusika/Palace Music series), in the E. Tubin Concert Hall in Tartu – European Capital of Culture 2024 (7.10.2024) and in the historic town hall in Narva – the autumn capital of Estonia (9 and 11.10.2024). The event was announced on Radio Klassika and in other public media. Concerts by Polish virtuosos were popular among Estonian audiences.

The project was co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland from the Culture Promotion Fund, and it was implemented by the Association of Polish Chamber Musicians – Kraków Branch with the support of the Polish Embassy in Tallinn and Estonian hosts of concert halls, music schools and the Association of Chamber Musicians.
