The Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024
10.07.2024
Within this year's The Tall Ships Races Tallinn 2024, Polish sailing ships are exceptionally well represented. Namely, 17 of the 60 participants are Polish ships, and among them are such famous ones as "Dar Młodzieży" and "Fryderyk Chopin" and the warship "Iskra".
Dear Friends of Poland and the Sea!
Most of the large sailing ships that arrive at the three Tallinn ports – Noblessner, Lennusadam, Vanasadam – on Thursday, July 11 at noon, will be open for visits on July 12 and 13 from 12:00 to 18:00. On Sunday, July 14, at 12:00 p.m., the sailing boats are scheduled to leave with a magnificent sea parade that everyone can watch from the shore. The program of the sea festival within the regatta is very rich - there are both sporting and cultural events, guided tours on board ships, concerts and sea voyages. Special attention should be paid to the program for people with visual and mobility disabilities, who are also allowed to explore the ships.
Embassy of the Republic of Poland invites you to two events:
On 12.07 at 16.00, the parade of ship crews starts from Tornide Square, which moves from Baltic Station to Vana-Kalamaja Street and from there towards Lennusadama str. Come to the square of Vana-Kalamaja Street (Kotzebue intersection) with Polish flags, where we can welcome the crews of Polish ships together.
From 11.07 to 13.07, an interactive exhibition “Illustrations by Joanna Concejo from the book “M like maritime”” will be organized by us on board the "Dar Młodzieży" cruise port. You can learn about M's story in the creative recreation area next to the exhibition, which we plan together with the Estonian Children's Literature Center and the crew of the “Dar Młodzieży” ship. The FORMAT publishing house and the Kino Manual made an animation of the book. The exhibition consists of a 3D book and a display of unique illustrations. Illustrator and artist Joanna Concejo's video manual allows you to make your own paper boat. Don't miss!
Joanna Concejo's picturesque storytelling takes everyone to the magical world of childhood and summer vacations spent by the sea. At the exhibition, you can put a letter in a bottle in which you trust the sea with your dreams, listen to the sound of the waves from a sea shell, build labs from stones and make paper boats - both as a head covering and for remembrance or just to launch into the water.
You're welcome!
