Prof. Andrzej Jajszczyk
ERC Vice-President and Chair of the ERC Scientific Council’s Working Group on Widening European Participation
Professor graduated from the Poznań University of Technology in 1974, where he commenced his research and teaching career in the field of telecommunications. He spent several years working at universities in Australia, Canada and France. Since 1999 he has been a professor at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. He has authored or co-authored 12 books, over 300 scientific articles on telecommunications networks and nodes, including over 150 of the indexed works in the Web of Science, 19 patents, and almost 100 articles on science and higher education. He has managed Polish teams in seven EU research projects. He has been a consultant for producers, operators and government agencies in Poland, Australia, China, Canada, France, India, Germany and the United States. He is a former editor-in-chief of the American IEEE Communications Magazine and a fellow member of the IEEE. His functions at the IEEE Communications Society included: Director of Magazines, Director of the Europe, Africa and Middle East Region, and Vice President. He was Associate Editor-in-Chief of CIC / IEEE China Communications. He co-founded the National Science Centre as its first director. Andrzej Jajszczyk is Vice President of the European Research Council (ERC), a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and President of the Kraków Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2017, he was elected a member of Academia Europaea. In 2020, he was elected a corresponding of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences.
