We were honoured to welcome high-level representatives.
Deputy Commander of the Cyberspace Defense Forces of the Republic of Poland, Frontex's Deputy Executive Director, representatives of EU agencies (SatCen and eu-LISA, Member States, NATO, National Security Bureau of the Republic of Poland, Border Guards and Police – all together discussed Security of EU’s External Borders. The conference had three thematic blocs:
PANEL 1: IT systems and technologies for secure border and migration management – integration and implementation of systems in Member States; their interoperability.
PANEL 2: Cybersecurity and hybrid threats to the EU borders. Coordinated response to large-scale cybersecurity incidents.
PANEL 3: The terrorism threats – systems and counterterrorism capacity-building.
Developing and improving large-scale centralised IT systems (SIS Recast, VIS, Eurodac, EES, ETIAS) for collecting, processing and sharing information that are vital for security cooperation, management of the external borders and migration in the context of irregular migration seems crucial.
Cybersecurity incidents are on the rise worldwide, under the threat are the critical infrastructure and democratic processes. Therefore, cybersecurity readiness, secure and resilient digital network infrastructure, and also countering disinformation effectively are the major priorities for our democracies.
Terrorism continues to pose a significant threat to the European Union and its Member States. This threat is now even more complex than ever and is driven by various factors including the risk generated by lone wolves, Islamic terrorist groups or hybrid war controlled by the Russian Federation. Therefore all counterterrorism efforts shall remain a high priority. It is of the most importance to cooperate by sharing the best practice, approaches and knowledge on rapid warning systems, technologies, detections as well as to improve this information sharing. This is the key to enhance our European resilience against terrorism in all its forms of threats.
