RESOLUTION
OF THE SEJM OF THE REPUBLIC OF POLAND
of 13 January 2023
on the state of health of former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili
In connection with the disturbing information about the dramatic situation in which former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili finds himself, including medical diagnoses indicating a rapidly deteriorating state of his health, taking into account medical recommendations to undertake immediate specialist treatment which is impossible in Georgia due to the lack of adequate medical facilities, considering Mikheil Saakashvili's significant contribution to shaping pro-European attitudes among Georgians, which resulted in the Georgian authorities' application for EU membership in 2022, noting Mikheil Saakashvili's declarations of readiness to return to the country and submit to further judgment following his medical treatment rehabilitation and recovery, confirming the will for further consistent cooperation and actions for Georgia's development and approximation to the Euro-Atlantic structures, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appeals to the Georgian authorities to be guided by the universal principles of humanitarianism, under which human life and health are of the highest value, and calls for urgently providing Mikheil Saakashvili with the necessary specialist medical treatment that meets international standards, as recommended by doctors, and appeals to the international community, friends of Georgia, to act in solidarity and perseverance to save Mikheil Saakashvili's life and health.
