The exhibition was prepared by the Institute of Literary Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences and was presented to the students and teachers of the Polish School but also to representatives of the local Polish community. Next the exhibition will be presented in Greek schools, libraries and cultural institutions.

The author of the exhibition Dr. Bogusław Niemirka came from Poland for the event and made special  presentations addressed to adults and others specially prepared for the students, with particular reference to the two-week period that Sienkiewicz stayed in Athens, in November 1886.

The Chargé d’affaires of the Republic of Poland in Athens Tomasz Wiśniewski in his welcome speech expressed his satisfaction that the opening took place at the Polish School and appealed to the Polish youth not to consider the books of Sienkiewicz in the category of compulsory reading but as an opportunity to enjoy reading and learn about the history of Poland. The Polish Consul in Athens Joanna Matyjasiak in a similar spirit underlined that Sienkiewicz in his times was a widely read author, whose printed in series novels were very popular.

The project was implemented with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens.
