International poster contest "White-red-white"

On the second anniversary of the rigged presidential elections in Belarus, in the spirit of solidarity with the Belarusian people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the National Cultural Center (NCK), is organizing an international poster contest "White-red-white".

On 9th of August is the second anniversary of the presidential elections in Belarus. The falsification of their results sparked mass protests across the country, to which the Lukashenka government responded with brutal repression, which continues to this day. Many people, including Poles, have been arrested and detained in prisons, there has been a purge of state institutions, legal freedom of speech and access to the Internet and social networks have been legally restricted, the activities of non-governmental organizations have been banned.

Poland invariably supports activities aimed at building a sovereign, open and stable state of Belarus, based on democratic values. Therefore, in the spirit of solidarity with the Belarusian people, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the National Center for Culture (NCK) announced an international poster contest "White-red-white" and an exhibition of submitted works. Information about the competition is available on the NCK website, and the announcement of the results along with the award ceremony and the inauguration of the exhibition will take place on 9th of August. The purpose of the competition is to remind the second anniversary of the rigged presidential elections in Belarus, the dramatic violation of human rights in this country and to support the freedom aspirations of the Belarusian people and their efforts to build an independent, strong and democratic state. The invitation to participate in the contest was sent by Ms Svatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the Belarusian opposition.
