Meeting of the Ambassador A. Lompart with the Chairperson of the Greek – Polish Parliamentary Friendship Group Mrs. O. Kefalogianni, on 9th of March 2022.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Artur Lompart and the Head of the Political and Economic Unit of the Embassy, Mr. Tomasz Wiśniewski received the Chairperson of the Greek – Polish Parliamentary Friendship Group, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, Mrs. Olga Kefalogianni and the Vice-Chairperson of the Group, Member of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Christoforos Boutsikakis on 9 March 2022 to talk about the situation related to Russian invasion against Ukraine.
The talks mainly concerned on the matters related to the humanitarian dimension of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Ambassador A. Lompart informed the Members that about 1,3 mln refugees have arrived in Poland since the beginning of the war. The refugees have found shelter in Poland due to the coordinated effort of Polish government, local authorities, non-governmental organisations and, what is the most important, with spontaneous support of Polish citizens.
Chairperson Olga Kefalogianni expressed her great concern about the social consequences of the war and offered the full support of the Greek – Polish Parliamentary Friendship Group in organizing humanitarian aid to the refugees who are escaping the war. She announced that the details of the support will be discussed with the Polish co-chair of the Group, Member of the Parliament of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Daniel Milewski in the incoming days.
