11.04.2020
Polish pisanki are the Polish Easter Eggs richly ornamented using various techniques. The pisanki derive from an ancient tradition when eggs, the symbol of life, were endowed with magical properties and were thought to ensure both a plentiful harvest and good health.
Nowadays Pisanki are considered to symbolise the revival of nature and the hope that Christians gain from faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The practice of coloring Easter eggs is very much alive in Poland today and enjoyed by Polish people all over the world. Usually Pisanki are being prepared early as 2-3 weeks before the Easter, but no later than on the day of the Holy Friday. The eggs are exchanged among friends and relatives with good wishes.
