Polish Army Medals Award Ceremony

By the decision of the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Poland, high-ranking officers of the Greek Armed Forces: Vice Admiral Athanasios Panagopoulos and Brigadier General Panagiotis Anastopoulos were awarded with the Polish Army Medal for merits in promoting the history and tradition of the Polish Army abroad and commemorating Polish and Polish-Greek heroes.
The medals were presented by Ambassador Artur Lompart, assisted by the Defense Attaché, Colonel Zbigniew Rybka.
Both decorated officers, after many years of service in the Greek Armed Forces, served on the board of the War Museum in Athens. At that time, they became known as friends of Poland and promoters of Polish history and the Polish military. The result of our fruitful bilateral cooperation was, among others organization of many exhibitions, meetings and conferences, film screenings, publications in the field of Polish and Greek military history and conclusion of a cooperation agreement between the War Museum in Athens and the Polish Army Museum.
