The ceremony, which took place on May 23, was opened by the President of the War Museum in Athens, Anastasios Liaskos, together with the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland, Artur Lompart, who emphasized the merits of the Polish-Greek hero of World War II and thanked everyone involved in preserving the memory of Jerzy Iwanow-Szajnowicz.

A biographical book about Jerzy and his family was presented by the President of the Livanis Publishing House, Panagiota Livani, and one of the authors - Leonarda Lambrianidou, the hero's niece. It is a fascinating family story centered around Jerzy Iwanow-Szajnowicz, who was born in Warsaw, grew up in Thessaloniki, studied in Louvain and Paris. As Agent No. 1 and the greatest saboteur of World War II, he operated in Athens during the German occupation. He was shot by the Nazis in the Kessariani district of Athens.

The exhibition will run until the end of May, and will be presented at the War Museum in Thessaloniki in the fall. Efforts are also underway to publish the book in Polish.

The event was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Athens as part of the Polish Heritage Days.
