Under the Polish Aid program, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland undertook to cover the costs of the renovation of the Senior House in Karlovassi, which suffered from the earthquake. The Senior House is run by the Diocese of Samos and Ikaria and cares for several dozen elderly people, as well as families in need of help.

Ambassador Artur Lompart was received by the Metropolitan of Samos and Ikaria, Eusebius, with whom he talked about the difficult situation of the inhabitants of the island related to the effects of the earthquake and the functioning of the refugee center. The Metropolitan expressed his gratitude for the help from Poland and referred to the close relations that his Diocese maintains with the Polish Orthodox Church.

The Ambassador met also with the Mayor of Karlovassi, with whom he exchanged opinions on the possibility of closer cooperation between Samos and one of the Polish cities.
