Visit of Polish parliamentarians to Athens

Representatives of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, with the Deputy Senate Marshal Michał Kamiński and members of the Polish-Greek Parliamentary Group of the Sejm, with the Chairman Daniel Milewski, visited Athens, where on 17-18 February met with Greek politicians: Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kostas Fragogiannis, Minister of Citizens’ Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis and members of the Greek-Polish Friendship Group operating in the Hellenic Parliament.
The Polish-Greek Parliamentary Group was constituted in the Sejm on February 13 and includes 18 deputies and senators from various political groups. Polish parliamentarians were received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Citizens' Protection and the Hellenic Parliament, where they held discussions on the development of bilateral cooperation, the future of the European Union and NATO, the migration crisis and security threats. An important topic for the Polish community living in Athens concerning the building for the Polish School “Z. Mineyko” was raised. Greek partners promised support for the efforts of the Polish side.
Both parliamentary groups declared their will to expand contacts and close cooperation, especially on topics related to EU agricultural policy. The visit of representatives of the Greek-Polish Friendship Group to Poland is planned for June 2020.
Earlier, on February 16, Polish parliamentarians took part in the celebrations in honor of the Icon of Our Lady of the Gate of Dawn, which took place in the Orthodox parish of Agia Marina in the Ilioupoli district.
