Polish Humanitarian Action (PAH) conducts needs assessment in the chosen localities of Sinjar, Ninewa Province

PAH in Sinjar Dec 2021

Polish Humanitarian Action was already active in Iraq in 2003-2007. Its work focused on access to water and education: rebuilding schools & streamlining the damaged water and sanitation infrastructure. PAH returned to Iraq at the end of 2016 in response to the plight of the civilian population caused by the fighting in Mosul.

These days PAH team conducts needs assessment in the mainly Yezidi-populated Sinjar district, particularly damaged during the ISIS-related war (2014-17) & genocide. Since the last year a growing number of displaced inhabitants have been returning - mostly from IDP camps and cities of the neighboring Kurdistan Region. However they find their home district largely devoid of proper infrastructure, job opportunities and insecure.

PAH is going to financially support the households in need, acting in local cooperation with Pekawa Organisation.
