Celebration of Poland's National Day

On Tuesday, 3 May, Ambassador Anna Sochańska hosted a reception on the occasion of the National Day of Poland for the Diplomatic Corps and Irish partners of the Embassy.
The guests of honour in attendance were the Lord Mayor of Dublin Alison Gilliland and Minister Arkady Rzegocki, the Head of Foreign Service at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Poland.
During the reception both the Ambassador and Minister Rzegocki presented Mr. Patrick O’Sullivan, Polish Honorary Consul for Counties Limerick and Clare, with the Order of Merit, awarded to him by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda in recognition and appreciation of the years of exemplary work and invaluable support for the Polish community in Ireland.
In addition, Minister for National Defence of the Republic of Poland Mr Mariusz Błaszczak has awarded 7 Irish officers with the Bronze Medal of Polish Armed Forces. The medals were presented to the officers by the Defence Attaché Colonel Mieczysław Malec.
To conclude, Ambassador Sochańska gifted to the Ambassador of Ukraine Larysa Gerasko an artwork ‘Polish Hospitality’ by a young Polish artist Aleksander Małachowski which symbolises support provided by Polish people to destitute Ukrainians.
During the reception Ukrainian pianist Andriy Blyznuyk performed a solo recital consisting of pieces by Polish and Ukrainian composers.
