Communication on new travel medical insurance regulations

The Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Amman informs that as of December 1, 2020, the conditions for travel medical insurance for foreigners applying for a national visa have changed.
Travel medical insurance meets the new requirements if:
- it provides for the liability of the insurer for the amount of insurance min. 30 thousand EUR;
- it is valid for the entire period of the foreigner's planned stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- it covers all expenses that may arise during the foreigner's stay in the territory in case of a foreigner:
- a necessary return trip for medical reasons,
- urgent medical assistance,
- emergency hospital treatment,
- death,
and the insurer:
- undertakes to cover the costs of health services provided to the insured directly to the entity providing these services - on the basis of an invoice issued;
- provides a 24-hour service of the alarm center, which accepts reports of events subject to the insurer's responsibility.
If the insurer does not have a registered office or a branch within the meaning of Article 3 point 4 of the Act of March 6, 2018 on the principles of participation of foreign entrepreneurs and other foreign persons in economic turnover on the territory of the Republic of Poland, the Member State of the EU, the Member State of EFTA - a party to the EEA agreement or in Switzerland, it must meet additional conditions, i.e:
- publish the results of the audit of its activity; the audit should be performed by a recognized international audit entity and indicate the actual possibility of satisfying the claims of entities providing health care services in the territory of the Republic of Poland;
- publish (at least on a semi-annual basis) data on the sum of premiums collected and the amount of payments in a given type of insurance.
