The Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Lucjan Karpiński, opened the event with a speech during which he mentioned the history of Polish May national holidays - the National Day of the Third of May, the Flag Day of the Republic of Poland and the Day of the Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad. Referring to the 20th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Union celebrated this year, he reminded us of our civic duty and encouraged us to participate in the upcoming democracy celebration on June 9 this year, by voting in the elections of Members of the European Parliament. With regard to the current security situation in Europe and the Levant and on the occasion of the 78th celebration of Jordan's Independence Day, the Ambassador extended wishes of peace, unity and solidarity. The opening was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences at the University of Jordan, prof. dr. Hasan Al-Saud.

All May Holiday Gathering participants had the opportunity to take part in a family tournament to play Palant - a Polish team game which origins date back to the 15th century. The Embassy promotes Polish sports culture in the country as part of a cooperation project of the Polish Palant League with the Jordanian JOHUD and the University of Jordan, financed by funds of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The event was attended by students of the University of Jordan who - thanks to cooperation with NAWA and with the support of the Embassy - have been participating in Polish language classes since October 2023.
