Medical mission of the Open Wings foundation to Madagascar under the patronage of the Embassy of Poland

On August 9-28, 2024, a medical mission organized by the Open Wings foundation took place in Madagascar under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of Poland in Nairobi.

During the mission, a team of 12 volunteer medics from Poland (8 doctors and 4 nurses) performed gynecological and surgical procedures at the Clinique Médicale BEYZYM hospital in Manerineirna, run by Mr. Daniel Kasprowicz, president of the "Foundation for Madagascar". The medics obtained the necessary permits from the Malagasy Supreme Medical Chamber and the Supreme Nursing Chamber. The beneficiaries of the project were the population of the Sofia and Boeny regions.

In the first week of the mission, as many as 75 women were examined. Patients could take advantage of professional consultations, including ultrasound examinations and a number of laboratory analyses, as well as treatment. A significant number of the patients were pregnant women, who were given dietary supplements and medicines. In the second week, the surgical team performed 31 procedures, including 17 procedures on children. Additionally, a cesarean section was performed with a successfully completed resuscitation of the newborn. As part of the mission, the hospital was provided with the necessary medical accessories, medicines, dietary supplements and many other items used in everyday hospital work. The organizers plan to continue the cooperation.
