Music workshops with Ghetto Classics in Korogocho

On May 4, 2023, on the initiative of the Embassy, Polish violinists conducted music workshops with Ghetto Classics in Korogocho.
The workshop was attended by approximately 40 children aged 6 to 18 years. The workshop leaders - Ms. Agnieszka Kulowska and Mr. Michał Buczkowski - presented the techniques of working in the orchestra and encouraged the youngest participants to develop their passion for playing the violin.
The Ghetto Classics programme is run by the Art of Music foundation established in 2008 in Nairobi. It is one of the organization’s flagship initiatives, whose main goal is to improve the lives of children and young people from marginalized neighborhoods of Kenya’s largest cities – Nairobi and Mombasa.
The Art of Music Foundation organizes music, dance and art classes for children from the slums of Korogocho and Mukuru kwa Njenga in Nairobi that develop their artistic interests, encourage them to work on their own talents and help them to break away from the difficulties of everyday life.
