The ceremonial opening of the Honorary Consulate in Kampala

On May 28, 2024, the ceremonial opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Kampala, headed by Honorary Consul Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu, took place.

The event was attended by approximately 100 guests, including Ambassador Mirosław Gojdź, Deputy Ambassador Joanna Szymańska, representatives of the Ugandan public administration headed by the guest of honor, the Minister of State for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Amos Lugoloobi, as well as representatives of the Ugandan private sector, the Polish diaspora and the diplomatic corps together with the ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union, Jan Sadek. The opening ceremony was preceded by the raising of flags and the playing of national anthems and ended with official speeches and a reception.

Honorary Consul prof. Ephraima Kamuntu expressed readiness to support the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Nairobi in intensifying activities in the field of bilateral political and economic relations, public and cultural diplomacy, and cooperation of twin cities.

Guest of honor, Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Amos Lugoloobi, expressed hope that the opening of the consulate would strengthen trade ties, which have been growing for several years. Using the potential of both countries, there should be richer and deeper economic interaction between Poland and Uganda,

In his opening speech, Ambassador Mirosław Gojdź thanked the Honorary Consul and his team for their efforts in organizing the Consulate, emphasizing that in addition to ongoing consular care for the growing number of Polish tourists, the Consulate will be the center of Polish life and a place of initiatives for the Polish community. It will also receive a new task of promoting the Polish economy and foreign expansion, as well as supporting and intervening for Polish business entities.

The participants of the ceremony considered it an event of great importance in relations between Poland and Uganda.
