28.02.2024
On February 27, 2024, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beirut organized a screening of the documentary-fiction film "Amazing Poles. Amazing Lands” produced by the Phoenicia Foundation of St. Charbel, co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. The screening gathered a full audience of Poles and the Polish community living in Lebanon, and was an opportunity to meet the filmmakers.
The production aims to present the profiles of Poles whose fate connected them with Lebanon - the poet Juliusz Słowacki, Polish clergy - Fr. Maksymilian Ryłło, missionary and founder of the prestigious Lebanese University of St. Joseph, Fr. Franciszek Tomasik, director of the high school for exiles, and Fr. Kamil Kantak - publicist, social activist and animator of socio-cultural life, who documented the fate of Poles and Polish organizations in Lebanon after II World War.
Each of these figures made a significant contribution to the development of the culture of Poland and the Middle East. According to the authors of the production "the selection of characters was aimed at showing Polish culture in its various forms and consolidating the image of our country as a country aware of its contribution to world culture".
